In August, 2011, Michael Podberezin became the first Israeli to gain entrance to North Korea as a tourist on his Israeli passport. During his visit, he managed to capture some of the absurdity of life behind the curtain of the 38th parallel just months before the death of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il.
The Kadoorie Family, Sephardi Jews who emigrated from Baghdad in 1880 to settle in the Far East, are synonymous with the development and fortunes of Hong Kong and Shanghai.
