Frequently Asked Questions

What language will be program be conducted in?
The program is conducted in English. Candidates should have an excellent command of spoken English, and be able to communicate at a high level.

Do you accept students from anywhere in Asia?
Priority is given to students from the following countries:
China (includes Hong Kong and Macau), India, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia.
However, students from other countries in Asia will also be considered.

From what academic fields should candidates come?
We are seeking candidates from a variety of fields. These include, but are not limited to:

Students from other fields are also encouraged to apply.

Does the fellowship provide financial support to cover students' university programs?
No. This is not a scholarship program.
The fellowship comprises field trips, seminars, training and professional contacts networks.

Do you provide accommodation as part of the fellowship?
No. This is a part-time fellowship for students already enrolled on a program of higher education in Israel. Accommodation should be arranged via your university or college.

Is there a fee for participants on the fellowship?
The fellowship prorgam is funded by donors and corporate sponsors. The only cost to successful candidates is a nominal acceptance fee - payable on acceptance to the program. Please see 'Application Process' for more details.

What is the time commitment involved in the fellowship?
October - March:
Mandatory fellowship activities are held on Sundays, twice a month. Additional activities are coordinated for the fellows during the year which are not mandatory. Fellowship activities will not be scheduled during students' university exam periods.
April - June:
Level of time commitment varies idepending on whether the fellow chooses to do an internship and what their chosen fellowship project is.

Is the program open to Israelis?
The program is not currently open to Israelis. However, there may be opportunities for Israelis to participate in some of the activities during the fellowship. Please contact us for more details.

What is the application procedure?
Applications will open on June 3, 2012. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2012. Applications will be reviewed by the selection committee. Candidates who get through to the second stage of the application process will be interviewed. Candidates who are already in Israel will be interviewed in person. Candidates who are not yet in Israel will be intereviewed over Skype. The final selection of candidates will be made in August, 2012. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.
